This book. This book. It will be on my mind for such a very long time.
I’ve seen this author’s name all over and I’ve never paid attention to her. I figured if she’s cranking out books she’s probably writing romance novels or books about vampires.
And even now, I can’t tell you Jodi Picoult’s style but I’ll be paying attention to her going forward! This book has made me aware!
Small Great Things is very racially motivated…..VERY. This author had me going in all different places……..
I feel like at some points she was more than over baring in her point. Just because (one of) the main charachters, Ruth, says it’s racism doesn’t make it so.
There was one line in the book that I will never forget and it will never leave my soul. When they are talking about brazilian nuts. Right before he calls them ‘what he calls them’ my thought was,….”no, no. no! don’t say it!!” Because the fact is, I heard that same referance to Brazill nuts as a child myself.
This book will appeal to conservatives and dreamers alike.
The fact that I don’t have a “side” makes this an amazing book!
